The solar panel has a long wire from the light so it can be placed away from the light and in the sun. The light is bright enough to light up a walkway. Great idea to have light sensor to go on only when dark and especially the motion activated feature. It only goes on when it is dark and there is motion. So the battery does not get drawn down when you have a dusk to dawn only feature. So light will be able to go on even if the day was cloudy or several days
