Wave mode looked promising as a cascade with lights pulsing slowly but then there was a disruptive chaotic burst.Dimmed to 25% to make it tolerable.Update: for the past few weeks I have been getting emails from the seller asking me to remove my review. Promising, in increasing amounts, to provide me with an Amazon gift card. The emails are not coming through Amazon. How did this seller get my email address to contact me directly? The emails are coming on a nearly daily basis, but the email addresses they are contacting me from are always different so blocking them does no good. What's even scarier, last week someone was able to hack into my Amazon account and placed a few orders. Coincidence? I think not. BEWARE of making ANY purchase from this seller.I know Amazon takes steps to prevent sellers from gaining customers email addresses, but this one has apparently found a way around the blockades to not only gain the information, but possibly even access to the customers accounts.Original review:While the listing states that these lights use a 1200 mah battery, the battery is completely unmarked in regards to the type, size, voltage, etc. It is also non removable, the wires are soldered directly to the battery. I suppose if you wanted to break the solder and redo it each time you needed to replace or manually charge it, you could, but seriously...I have approximately 20 solar lights/ sets of lights around my home. Solar batteries are supposed to be replaced every one to two years as they, like any other rechargeable battery, degrade over time.I'm in NC, so not exactly in the north, but even here there is not enough winter time sun to charge this battery. Every other light set I have, has a removable NiMh battery that I can remove and charge manually in low sun seasons. Not this one.I do believe it is a li-on battery, which will only preform well as a solar rechargeable on long summer days with optimal sunlight. If you don't live near the equator, forget about getting more than a couple of hours use out of the lights during shorter daylight months. And unless you want to break the solder and redo it every day, forget changing it out like you'd do with NiMh batteries.I wouldn't risk it anyway as this li-on battery is unprotected and can easily overheat during charging and possibly explode.I like li-on batteries, but would never use an unprotected one like this! IMHO, all of them should be required to have a circuit protection in them to prevent overheating. Not only does the battery make this a disposable set of lights which you will be trashing as soon as the non replaceable battery begins to degrade in a year or so, the remote is a joke. I can literally hold it right against the back where the receiver is located and it will only respond to the remotes command occasionally, say, once every 20 commands or so. At any distance from it, forget about it. So why even bother? There is a reason why the seller doesn't provide an image of the battery in this thing. If you are the type of person who fills our landfill with solar lights every year or two when they stop working - stop it. The vast majority of solar lights have replaceable batteries, typically NiMh. Replace them and recycle the battery. Ni-Cd can be replaced as well but they are not recyclable, so try to avoid those.Don't be like me and buy a solar light without knowing the type of battery and knowing that you can easily replace/recycle it when necessary.Li-on can be recycled, but unless you know what you're doing, you really can't replace it in this set. Even if you know what you're doing regarding soldering, I wouldn't advise it with these unprotected batteries as the process could easily overheat/explode them.If you have solar lights that you think need replacing, please open up the battery compartment first and check to see if the battery is replaceable. Hopefully, it has a NiMh which you can replace and recycle.NiCd batteries are actually longer lasting, but you can't recycle them once they begin degrading and won't hold a charge. They are not at all environmentally friendly.Do not buy these lights unless you only want to use them near the equator or during long sunny summer days in other locations. Even then, don't count on them going more than a few hours on a full charge. Li-on batteries require a long charging time and deplete rather quickly. Though they may be more environmentally friendly, in many applications when they are used frequently, as in lighting on a daily basis for multiple hours, they aren't very practical. Most solar lights have a battery you can easily remove and recharge in instances where you aren't getting enough sunlight. During the months with shorter daylight hours, I keep spare batteries charged and ready to change out when needed. During the summer months here in NC, there's plenty of sunlight for charging them.Chargers and spare batteries are not expensive. You really don't even need the spare batteries if you have time to remove, recharge and then replace them when needed. I just buy extra and keep them charged in the cooler months to change out.Lights are very bright and pretty.A lot of the low star reviews talk about the lights only working for a short amount of time, or not at all, and I don't think ppl realize that there is an AA battery inside the solar panel component that needs to be replaced periodically. Mine stopped working after a few weeks, so I unscrewed the back of it to see if I could fix whatever was wrong and saw the battery. After replacing the battery, it's back to working.Another thing that can cause the lights to not work is if the solar panel is close to, or angled toward, another strong light source when it's dark out. So if you have a bright porch light, or other bright garden light, make sure you place the solar panel in a spot where it won't register those.(Ok, enough with the tech support, lol.) I bought these for a watering can light decoration for my garden and they look really nice. They've held up to being repositioned several times and a few thunderstorms and the only times they've stopped working are for the reasons already mentioned above. These burned out and will not light just two weeks past the return date There’s plenty of sun there’s no reason why they shouldn’t light Except they are just low quality They’re not easy to mount I would move on to another set Which is what I’m going to do. ?. . . UPDATE!!!! I realized after my review that a squirrel Or Hurricane force winds which we have had in my area, must have moved the solar panel that I screwed into my deck post to not get sun light. After my review the company was so nice to reach out to me 15 days after my warranty had expired and offered to replace them. I had already realize the issue and told them it was no longer needed but I was too embarrassed to explain. But I am going to explain why I am editing my poor review. After my review the company was so nice to reach out to me 15 days after my warranty had expired and offered to replace them. I had already realized the issue and told them it was no longer needed but I was too embarrassed to explain. But I am going to explain why I am editing my poor review on these lights!! They are beautiful and I get so many compliments!!!They are fine but just to many little things to complain about.... I wouldn't use them again.I love the look of these and they doing exactly what I want them to do...but one almost immediately stopped holding a charge. It won't even stay on 30 second, even after a full day of charging. The other one doesn't exactly have a long battery life - but at least it lasts longer than 30 seconds!! Now I have to decide if I should send them both back since it's a package deal. Have only recently unpackaged and charged for a number of days andthe product does not work.
