I have to admit, we hired someone to put them on the roof line because there was a high peak, and neither one of us "do ladders" anymore at 74 years old. I don't know if there was a remote control or not, because we had ours on a timer. But I gave that 5* anyway because they are so cool!Didn’t come with remote control which would have made it much better. Instead every time it’s turned on, I have to hit the button 7 times to get to steady on. That feature I think should have been an automatic number 1. They aren’t as bright as I would have hoped, but they do the job of calming a classroom down so we can turn off lights to work. Luckily other lights help bring up the brightness. These look great and are extremely light weight compared to the old irredecent lights. My only gripe (and perhaps it's not fair as I read it in other reviews after I bought them) is that they default to cycling through all 8 settings when turned on. So if you're using a timer, expect a disco party on your house until you go out and hit the button 7 times to keep them solidly on. They lasted me a season no problem. The real test will be when I get them out again next year...Great lights, but they have one major flaw: they do not save the last setting you had them on. Because of this, every time they turn back on, they default to “demo” setting where they go through the carousel of different lighting modes. Unless you manually turn them on and change the setting daily, you just have to live with the different light show every day. Kind of a pain because I just want them to stay “steady on” without blinking or anything, but no dice.unlike the older version, these lights will start doing the animated flashy thing every single time you turn it on.You have to click it eight times (every time) just to get it to go to solid. The real problem with that is, it won't remember the last setting that you had it on.We have an older set that does, and this is a letdown. We use remote control outlets for our lamps and such and this just isn't really compatible. We've got a really cool icicle light thing going on, but I didn't know about the setting oh, I installed them completely and I would have returned them instead of spending a bunch of time installing them if I'd had known that.Like how hard is it just to make the basic function be the primary function? Whatever they're doing they did it wrongThese have decent length of each icicle, overall the light output is alright. 2 major issues is that I encountered were these come out of the box literally tied it knots. Took me 2 times as long to get them untangled as it took me to hang them.Second issue is I have thess programed on a smart outlet to turn on at specific times at an outlet set up in a garage. When these are turned on and off they always turn on to the multi mode which is the combination of every mode.. Not my preferred setting. So each time they turn on I have to go to the garage and click through the button to set the mode I want. Would be nice if there was a switch to lock in a mode. Will come back in January to report how they did after a month in the PA weatherI wanted warm white LED icicle lights and these fit the bill. The cord is pretty long too, some of them are too short. The only negative is the number of options. I wanted it 'steady on' not flashing. You can push the button to set the pattern, but every time it turns off at night, you have to re-set it. So every night I would have to turn off the eight other options to turn it back to 'steady on.' Otherwise great lights!Love the lights! I only wish you didn't have to reset the twinkle settings each time it turned on. Otherwise love all the setting options
