I am very impressed with this company, and the charger was 200 bucks cheaper than elsewhere. I bought this to replace my other 7 year old Kid controller that stopped working, but it died from something I probably did incorrectly, fried fuse circuit from too much voltage and now they have protection built in for that fortunately. My solar panels output was always right on the edge of too much and having two in tandem would have been better. These controllers are real champs and I've been extremely pleased with them over seven years with an off grid home built set up that entirely powers my metal workshop. Midnite Solar builds top notch products! This seller on Amazon is a well trusted Texas company and they inspected and tested the unit before being packed up, and it came boxed in that expanding foam all around to keep it impeccably cushioned from damage. Being so much cheaper than elsewhere I was hoping it wasn't unwise, but I'm real pleased with the seller for sure and will buy from them again with confidence. I haven't even had a single problem but know they’d really stand behind their product and have great customer relations. If you need a quality built care free American made solar charger, you will not go wrong with The Kid controller and this Amazon sellerevidently all mppt controllers are not created equal: Same PV array puts out 10-15% more juice than with the old controller and i really like the load clipper, we use it for dhw, full batteries and a hot shower, woohoo!I ordered this charge controller because I had unexpectedly shorted my midnite solar 200v charge controller when moving the solar from the stand alone array to being roof mounted on a pergola. I have lived offgrid for seven years and the original midnite solar equipment worked perfectly until my boo boo. I needed something to keep the lights on while waiting to send in the other controller to be fixed. Due to Covid amazon wasnt going to be able to ship the product to me until the 29th but I would have been in the dark for over a week by then. I spoke with the seller , stellavolt, via email and they were able to overnight it to me from their texas warehouse and i was back up and running this afternoon having only spent a single night by portable lights!Without question awesome controller for the cost. Many cool features that are real useful. Only issue I ran across was if you want to use an inductive load you’ll need to provide an isolated relay to keep load from causing internal damage. The user manual doesn’t provide an example for this type application (Inductive Loads). Like a pump requires. But it’s a great device I’d recommend to anyone. LaterAwesome quality!Packaged very well. It came with a very good instruction manual. I am very excited to use it and look forward to many years of service from it.After 2 years voltage reading is really bad and damaged 4 Trojan batteries . Changed wiring. New batteries and ney fuses. voltage reading is always wrong even if I use voltage offset when is no sun voltage reading is too low on the kid but good on multimeterI did my comparisons of charge controllers and read reviews on every product I came across online and watched many product reviews on youtube. I ended up getting the midnite solar kid charge controller and here are the reasons why. I had questions so I called the manufacture about integrating another competitors shunt to the midnite solar. It was a Friday before a holiday weekend and expected no one to answer at 3 pm in the afternoon but someone did answer and his name was Robin. From my research Robin was an owner and founder of midnite solar so what an honor to ask him a question personally. He was very nice and helpful plus advised me the competitors shunt would work. Well the supplier I purchased from also offered the midnite solar shunt so I ended up getting theirs anyway. The charge controller works great and was simple to install with an entire pamphlet on installation plus different scenario wire diagrams which helped out a lot. This controller does more then most as it has no fan to make noise and go out plus it has an automatic generator start function. Plus a function to keep track of amps hours to the batteries via a shunt so I know the battery is 100% based on amps and not just volts. It also offers a visual dummylights letting me know how long since the battery was charged completely. It also has is an MPPT controller which takes excess voltages from the solar panel and makes more amps to the battery. The lists goes on and on. Plus the unit is made in the USA and it is also a local company since they are a hour away from my house. I had to try it out and am impressed. I am so happy to have a solid product that I can have faith in to keep my life complete when on the road without connections. I will buy more products and keep my review updated as time goes by.
