Only had this in the overhead socket in my 2- car garage for a couple of days/nights, but so far I'm impressed! The sensitivity is, for lack of a better word, perfect. I open the door from the house to the garage and with the combination of motion- (and, I guess, vibration?) sensing the lights go on instantaneously. If I leave the garage, door(s) closed, or stand perfectly still in the garage, the lights go out in about 2 minutes. If I stand perfectly still long enough just a slight motion turns the lights back on. I have a couple of large LED fixtures in the garage to give decent light, but I actually don't need to turn them on most times because this product puts out plenty of light.... enough for me to go rummaging for something in the garage, even in cabinets or drawers, without having to turn on other lights. The other thing I like about this is the weight.... how little this weighs. I have a duplex (plug) receptacle in the ceiling, so had to put this light into a socket with prongs that go into the receptacle. If it were too heavy I'd have to worry about the whole thing eventually wiggling out from repeated vibrations (doors opening/closing), but this is light enough that I don't think I have to worry about the thing falling. We haven't had any subzero days/nights, nor spells of very high temps, so I don't know how well this product will handle it.... other products serving basically the same purpose don't handle temperature extremes well at all. I'm optimistic, though, and so far very pleased with the purchase! The microwave motion detector is too sennsitive: it works through doors and walls. My garage is attached to the house and the kitchen door accesses the garage. Also, one room shares an outside wall with the garage. The motion detector detects people in the kitchen if standing near the door or in the other room if near the wall and activates the light. In the garage, the motion detector works superbly, but my garage light is constantly turning on and off as people move in the kitchen and house.Infrared detectors don't work as well, but this one works TOO well. I bought it because family often forgets to turn off the garage light, so I thought this would be the answer. But it goes on all too often. As far as illumination goes, it works great for my one car garage and couldn't be easier to install--just screw it in.We installed one of these in the basement and one in the attic. A simple screw -in just like a regular bulb, these 80W Motion Sensor lights put off plenty of light. The one thing I don't care for is I wish you had a switch where you could turn it on or off and could adjust the sensitivity of the motion detector. The basement install will come on if someone is walking on the floor above it, even though it is in the basement below you. Also the attic one will do the same. It appears it is so sensitive it can turn on from the slightest vibration in the wall or floor. Having said that, I do not however, regret purchasing them. They are a great buy and are providing what I needed in two areas... brilliant illuminance!Bad sensor. Not sensitive enough and turns on very quickly. Annoying design. These are plenty bright for my entire garage. I like the flexibility of aiming each of the three panels like I want. The motion sensor is crazy sensitive. The garage light now comes on immediately when I open the door, as opposed to the last light we had which waited until you stepped through the door to come on. It also comes on at night sometimes when a car just passes by outside the window. That never happened before with the other lights, but I just have to keep the side window covered now. The only negative I see is there is no adjustment for sensitivity, or for how long the light stays on. It stays on about 15 seconds after motion stops, so when I'm at my work bench I have to keep moving - or just turn another light on. I would like to be able to adjust that longer, about 30 seconds would be better I think. It's not a big deal if you have other lights. This light just gives you time to get to them when you first walk in, or drive in.I bought two of these for two different areas in the house. The motion sensing doesn't appear to function at all. I tried leaving them on and left the rooms - both stayed on for hours. There's nothing happening in those rooms - a utility room and an unfinished storage area. I'll keep them for ultra bright light in those but will leave the light switches off so they don't keep running. While I ordered the motion sensing product, both boxes I received note nothing about motion sensing.Another oddity which I assumed was related to motion sensing is that within a few seconds of being turned on, they turn off for a second then back on and stay on. Weird. But they're not primary living quarters and I don't feel like bothering with a return so I'll leave them in.From what I read in other reviews, the motion sensing is too short, too sensitive, and not customizable in any way. Brightness is great and they're easy to install but the motion sensing is crap - nonexistent on both units.I put it in ( easy) and but I thought it wouldn't shut off, so I was frustrated and was going to return it. I took it down and then tried it out again just in case. this time, I closed door from house to garage but left it open a tiny bit so I could see if it shut off. it did turn off ! It is so sensitive that as soon as I opened the door to see if it was off, it would turn back on instantaneously -which is great ! no lag so I open the door and have tons of light as soon as the door opens an inch. very happy. At first my wife thought the light was always on, but I assured her it turns off, it just very quick to turn on. The LED lights instantly turn on at the first hint of motion. I mounted it on the ceiling of my garage and also have a security cam in there. The cam allows me to check the garage anytime, and the only time I see the light on is if someone is in the garage, or a few times when moths have been buzzing around setting it off. The light is not for outdoors, however if you have a shed or barn it will be fine.
