Paired this with another solar panel to help older truck start after being parked for a while. Seems to work fine.I bought this to keep the battery of my little used pick up truck charged. I installed it and monitored the battery condition for several days. The battery was loosing power during that time so I sent it back and bought a more powerful one that is doing what I need it to. This unit appeared to be well made but probably best for a smaller batteryGreat solution to a "leaky" Electrical gremlin in my car. My 2014 Ford Flex, which the family loves, has a problem in some system on the car that seems to "turn on" while sitting parked. Basically there is a battery draw that tends to deplete the battery after about 48-72 hours. Worse still if it is cold outside. So if I were to leave the car at the airport, come back a week later, the car would be dead. I have gone to the dealership and replaced the computers, the infotainment system, and the only thing they can do next is major surgery to look for an electrical short somewhere. I am already on my 3rd battery since buying the car new in 2014. So short of having the dealership disassemble my car, which I am almost certain will create other problems, I was trying to find another solution. I think there is computer either from the engine, transmission, or infotainment system, that periodically reboots over night, just leaching power from the battery. Thus this Allpower Solar Panel. And now as Winter comes to the its end, I have to say that I have not had to jump start my car one time all winter. So some caveats, without them this solution would have not worked, and may not work for you.***Caveats***1. I park the car outdoors in the driveway and/or the Airport Parking, where it can get sufficient light during daytime.2. My Ford has an "Always On" Power Port (Cigarette Lighter Plug) in multiple locations. Not all cars do, and this will not work for you if your car turns off the power ports when you take the key out of the ignition.3. The battery must already be fully charged and healthy before it goes in a "drain" situation. If the battery is already somewhat low on volts, than this Solar Panel will not be strong enough to help out.Our Ford luckily has 3 rows of Sunroofs, and there is an "Always On" power port in the trunk. What I have done is to just keep the Solar Panel plugged in all the time, and have mounted it on the 3rd row sunroof (see Pictures). I used some cable routing organizers and the wire seems to be out of the way. Used inside my truck for 3 years now.Pros: Has been entirely reliable. Truck used to have a dead battery if not used frequently, but for the past few years, never failed. This little solar panel sitting inside the window is enough to keep the charge from draining and my truck is always ready to go on the rare occasions I need it. Still works well after 3+ years of constant use.Cons: The fabric backing and border around the solar panel is disintegrating in the sun, and the little elastic straps on the back are entirely gone. This is a solar panel that cannot withstand long-term exposure to direct sunlight ... which is a solar panel's only job.The solar battery maintainer seems solid and I can see that it does generate electricity from the solar panel. I got it out of the package and connected the cigarette lighter plug to the wire that came with it, the LED light on the plug lit up when I put the solar panel next to the window in my room.I attempted to do a real test in my car, but I couldn't because the cigarette lighter plug that came with my solar panel is too big. I tried it on my other car to see if it is an issue of the cigarette lighter plug or it is my car's socket. No, it is still too big. The plug can't be inserted in both of my cars' standard size cigarette lighter sockets. I eventually forced the plug in with both hands. Then I realized how am I going to get it out? I was not able to pull the plug out. It was pretty much jammed. I eventually needed to wrap rubber bands on the plug to get a better grip and pulled with both hands....It was finally out, but my cigarette lighter socket almost came out with the plug. I don't think I will try it again or on any of my cars.I contacted Allpowers, the employees were very responsive and professional. They said they don't usually have this kind of problem from the plug and it could be a problem from my cars. They suggested that I can find a plug that fits my car in the market. If not, I can always return it for a full refund at Amazon in 30 days.If anyone know where I can buy a cigarette lighter plug that is compatible with a standard size cigarette lighter socket and it has a male connector, please can you let me know? Or I will need to return my unit. Thanks.I like it because I just have it plugged into my cigarette lighter. I had regular trickle charger due to electrical issues and my battery draining,, even my new one in a few days. Then the electrical Napa one I had boiled my battery over and killed it dead. My son put his OHM meter on it and it was registering higher than it should. This is a good safe way to keep your batter maintained. The suction cups won't stick and my window is very clean and cleaned. I put the straps around (don't laugh) a roll of paper towels then the Solar Panel screen is in the window MAINTAINING the battery. That is placed on the front of my dash and I just unplug it when I go somewhere and move the whole works off.I park my boat at a marina an hour away from home. I bought this to keep my battery charged so the automatic bilge pump doesn't drain the battery. I have to say that it works great. We have come back a week or two after our last use and after a lot of rain and our battery is still at completely full charge. Even if it doesn't rain, we always come back to a battery with more charge than it had when we left it after a day of starting and stopping for water sports. There are only a couple of minor things that prevented me from giving a 5 star rating.1) The chord is long enough for my purposes (I think it's 5ft in length) but a bit of extra length would be helpful. I built a little wooden pedestal attached to the dock beside my boat to hold the panel and it reaches fine but it would be nice to have the pedestal just a little higher up and further away from the edge than it is. Also, my boat naturally sits fairly low in the water so it doesn't have to reach horribly far. For someone with a taller boat, they'd likely need to extend the cable.2) It would be nice if the midpoint plug to attach the panel to the battery clips had a locking mechanism (like a twist latch or something) to make sure it stays attached. It does seem to hold pretty well and has made it through some pretty harsh storms but I'm always a little worried that with the chord having some slack but basically being just long enough, that if my boat rocks around a lot in a storm or a marina employee happens to brush past it too closely it could get unplugged.3) The listing says the panel is OK to be left outside in the rain but the directions that come with it say it is water resistant but that it shouldn't be left out in the rain. I'm not sure now if it can handle rain or not so to be safe I have it wrapped in clear plastic. It's not that big of a deal and the plastic will probably extend the life of the panel anyway but it is worth mentioning. All in all it's a great little solar panel and does exactly what I bought it to do and does it well. With a couple of little tweaks it could be amazing.Variety of mounted by laying on the dash, via suction cups (4 included) or straps on the back of the unit. Can be hooked up via car charger cigarette lighter plug or battery charging clips, both cables are supplied and measure 1.5 meters/5 ft.An LED light indicates charging. So far I've tested this on my riding mower and boat batteries, I verified before and after charges with a metered charger, and this charger definitely added "juice" to the batteries. I plan on using this for maintaining my batteries over winter (unit will be mounted on a south facing window). This would also be great for vehicles that sit for a prolonged period of time.J'ai acheté et reçu ce petit panneau solaire que je comptait utiliser dans ma roulotte pour maintenir ma batterie. Les tests ont été fait avec un multimètre numérique.I dont think it work well with every car for the Volt Plug inside.I have a Mazda2 and sadly , the power that it managed to get with the sun was keeping my radio open... Wich was not providing any ''battery''.When i say keeping my radio open... I mean without having my key inside my car at all. I did some groceries and when i came back in my car i was like ... ? huh why is my radio working. I did try to unplug the ''solar thing'' and my radio stopped working. So keep that in mind. Pay attention if you lose any energy somewhere while that being plugged in.I'm still using it with the other plug ''pliers'' Directly connected to my battery. Lucky me that my dad know how to hide the cable inside the car.
